Kevin Dorrance, M.D., CAPT (ret.) is the former Chief Medical Officer of the U.S. Navy, Internist, and former Chief of Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, among other roles during his more than 35 years of military service. He was the clinical champion for numerous transformation initiatives, including the development and implementation of the successful Patient-Centered Medical Home program for the Military Health System. Throughout his career, he advocated for fundamental reforms in healthcare and renewed focus on primary prevention, health and wellness. He understands that the primary drivers of chronic disease and the ever-rising cost of healthcare are the result of the decisions we make as individuals and the habits that are reinforced within our social circles. He has continued to focus his efforts on changing health behaviors and the relationship between the individual, social network, the community, and the healthcare system. He is currently a Senior Consultant at TransformCare Inc. and represents the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in support of CMS, ONC, VA, and DOD transformation efforts.
